4 C’S OF DIAMONDS
CUT:
The cut of a diamond refers to how it was shaped and how its precise angles and surfaces were crafted to reflect light. A diamond’s cut affects its sparkle more than any other factor.
CLARITY:
Diamond clarity refers to how clean a diamond is both internally and on the surface. Natural characteristics may appear as inclusions, which are small marks inside the diamond, or as blemishes, which are small marks on the surface. The clarity grade tells us how many of these characteristics are present, how large they are, and how easy they are to see.
Clarity scale from highest to lowest
FL - flawless, IF - internally flawless, VVS1 & VVS2 - very very slightly included, VS1 & VS2 - very slightly included, SI1 & SI2 - slightly included, I1 & I2 & I3 - included
At DaisyRae we usually recommend VS and VVS diamonds that inclusions are not visible to the naked eye
COLOR:
Diamond color means how white or colorless the diamond looks. Most diamonds are not perfectly white they usually have a tiny bit of yellow or brown tint. The color grade tells us how much tint is present.
Diamonds are graded from D - completely colorless, very bright white down through the alphabet to Z - noticeable yellow tint.
CARAT:
Carat means how much a diamond weighs. The higher the carat, the larger the diamond looks. However, two diamonds with the same carat weight can look different in size depending on the cut and the shape.
